Cyprus

Location: Cyprus is an island in the Mediterranean Sea, south of Turkey

Geographical Features: The island displays both sandy and rocky coastlines, rugged Troodos Mountains, some forests and a great variety of flowering plants and trees. The cultivated lands are used for growing citrus, bananas, grapes, barley almonds and olives. The moufflon (wild sheep), can be found, although rare. This type of wild sheep is only found in Cyprus. The highest peak of the Troodos is Mount Olympus which reaches 1953m. There are over 200 species of birdlife on the island and the Cypriots are active in their conservation of the Griffon Vulture.
